I love adventure! Whether this is through driving around, visiting states, or traveling internationally, I value the feeling of learning something new and immersing myself amongst multiple cultures and experiences. I have traveled through East Africa by study as well as self-travel, and have taught English in China. While travel is a main passion, I feel deeply that adventure is a mindset and not a destination; adventure can be making a fort in the living room, playing a board game, making a new recipe, and so forth. The greatest adventures are all around us.
I also dabble in long distance ultramarathon running, but have sustained injuries that have accrued over the past several years. I am optimistic, and feel that it is an avenue of personal adversity that I would like to one day overcome, amongst other challenges I have faced and overcome in the sport. It is a goal to run the Badwater 135, which is a 135-mile footrace race through Death Valley National Park in the scorching heat of July, going from the lowest to the highest points in 48 states.
I also appreciate storytelling and love to learn of others’ stories as well as enjoy sharing my own.
Recently I have begun longbow archery and enjoy being outside while learning a new skill. I am attempting to woodwork and make some of my own bows.
Above all, spending time with family, friends, and others is what I value the most.
My favorite song is Wings by Macklemore; I can easily listen to this song on repeat.
